Oldsmobile 98

I went past this car a dozen or more times on my bicycle before finally deciding to hop off and document it one frigid morning. There was still frost on the exterior—evidence that the first truly miserably cold temperatures of the year had occurred the night prior.

I believe that this is an 11th-generation Oldsmobile 98. This was the automobile’s second-to-last body style, which had become a shell of its former beauty by the mid-80s. Don’t get me wrong—I dig almost every 98 model until around 1991, but you can’t compare anything from the 80s to pre-1977 models.

This car sits outside a pallet yard; I believe the owner works for the operation. I’ll be honest, this car is in rough shape, but I’ve got to smile every time I pass it. In the later years, the 98 wasn’t a glamourous ride, but it got you where you wanted to go, and that’s all that matters in the end.

If you had to pick one daily driver to use for the rest of your life, what would it be?
