Cadillac Calais

With the holidays clouding the mind, it feels like ages since the snow arrived, but I shot these images a few short days ago.

I’ve shot this Cadillac many times, but I finally got a few photos I was happy with one day this week before work. Over the years, I’ve noticed several classic cars here, but this Cadillac has been alone in the lot for over a year.

In Detroit, you see a ton of 80s and 90s Caddys, but the real boats aren’t as common to find out and about anymore. This is a relatively uncommon model (by 2022 standards)—the Calais, which was produced from 65 until 76. It wasn’t a flagship model, so you don’t see as many around as more popular offerings, like the Deville.

Like many Cadillacs you see in Detroit, this one probably rolled off the line at Clark Street Assembly (Detroit Cadillac).

Given the car’s condition, I don’t think I’ll see it rolling down Gratiot any time soon. But hey, at least it isn’t in a scrap yard.

As for the snow—it looks like it’ll be gone again in a few days.
