Cadillac Series 75 Limo

I had always meant to take photos of this car, but the time to do so continued to elude me. One day, it came up that a close friend’s uncle used to own it, so I decided to make time to document it.

The car in the photo is an early 1960s Cadillac Series 75 Limo. Famed General Motors designer Bill Mitchell designed the model, and although it isn’t one of his more known works, it’s powerful all the same.

The car has been parked at Rainbow Radiator since around 2012. The auto shop had existed since at least December 1989—which is when I found it first mentioned in the Detroit Free Press.

The shop repaired/recored radiators and did work on automotive air conditioners. I believe it existed until around 2007, and the shop remained in use until a few years later.

If you could bring back one thing from old cars, what would it be, and why? I’m not a massive fan of tailfins, but on certain cars, it just works—this one included.

Thanks for always sharing insightful information, Uncle Paul!
